Becky's Home Gym Transformation

Becky's Home Gym Transformation

Becky Nevitt (@insidenumber5) is a busy single mum, business owner and interiors creator, and after converting the back half of her garage into a Solo home gym, she hasn't looked back.

Here's her story, in her own words.

The space before

Like most home gym transformations, this one started with a problem. Becky had slowly been collecting bits of gym equipment, but they were never in a dedicated space where she actually wanted to train.

"I'd slowly started collecting bits of gym equipment, but they were never in a dedicated space where I actually wanted to train or had enough room to use everything properly."

The solution was to convert the back half of her garage, a decision that changed the way she trains entirely.

How has having a gym at home changed things day to day?

"Having a home gym has really changed my routine. It's made working out so much more convenient, and because it's a space I genuinely love being in, I'm much more consistent with my training."

As a busy single mum running her own business, consistency had always been the challenge. Becky trains four to five times a week and loves gym classes, but when work, school holidays and life get in the way, having a gym at home means she can fit workouts around her schedule rather than the other way around.

Why Solo Fitness?

For Becky, the decision came down to design.

"The quality and design of the equipment is what attracted me to Solo in the first place. As an interiors creator, it's really important to me that the spaces in my home are beautiful as well as functional, and I wanted my gym to feel no different. I love that you can personalise the colours, and there are so many clever storage options so every accessory has its own place. Everything feels incredibly well made and has completely elevated the space."

Her gym features the Solo Half Squat Rack, the Signature Storage Bench and a range of wall mounted storage solutions, each chosen as much for how they look as how they perform.

"The Signature Bench is one of my favourite pieces because it stores so much equipment while taking up such a small footprint."

What stood out about Solo?

"What stood out to me straight away was the design. The colour options and overall aesthetic were exactly what I was looking for, as I wanted my gym to feel like an extension of my home rather than just somewhere to exercise. Once everything was installed, I was even more impressed by the quality and how thoughtfully designed each piece is. The multipurpose storage solutions make the space feel organised and functional, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with it."

On investing in a home gym

For anyone sitting on the fence about making the investment, Becky's advice is straightforward.

"I'd say quality is key. For me, investing in my health, fitness and strength is one of the best investments I can make, so I wanted equipment that was built to last. Choosing durable, sturdy, high-quality equipment means you'll enjoy using it for years, and it's something you'll benefit from every single day. When you think about the price per use, it really is an investment in yourself."

The result

A converted garage that feels nothing like a garage. A space Becky genuinely loves walking into every morning, and one that's made her the most consistent she's ever been with her training.
